AXA Climate: subtitling training videos in a variety of languages
AXA Climate is an entity within the AXA Group that offers a range of services, including digital training programs, SaaS products, consulting services, and climate insurance products. AXA Climate empowers both private and public sectors with the tools they need to address the challenges of climate change. The company engaged ELAN Languages to subtitle their training videos in 13 languages.
AXA Climate’s question
In 2021, AXA Climate launched an online education program to guide employees at companies and organisations worldwide in their environmental and sustainability strategies. This included 40 hours of training videos, all of which had to be subtitled in 13 languages including Spanish, German, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino.
Our service
ELAN Languages used specialised software to transcribe the video content and create French and English subtitles. Then, having sought and found the most suitable translators in its vast network of freelancers, ELAN prepared target versions of the subtitles.
But ELAN’s job didn’t stop there, as the resulting subtitles needed to be edited to make sure they were perfectly synchronised with the image. Quite a challenge, especially for Asian languages. ELAN then used specialised software to create the subtitles in SRT files. SRT is a file type that makes it easy to add subtitles to videos. We also translated the “Climate School” website from English into German, during which the texts were reworded to fit seamlessly into the website’s existing design.
